Mark Paul Kaplan is a historical fiction author specializing in the American West of the 1800’s. He came to Cut Canvas to produce a campaign to elevate his public image and sell his books. To achieve this, we designed a campaign across Twitter and Facebook that leveraged Mark’s impressive knowledge of the period to spark authentic interest in his book. This compelling content paired with a targeted digital advertising campaign resulted in thousands of referrals to the book’s Amazon.com purchase page and boosted the author’s book sales by over 400% during the time we worked with him.

A key piece of this project was conducting exhaustive research of the period around the Klondike Gold Rush. From both the written record and early photography available, we were able to bring this era back to life online in a way that excited history buffs and generated authentic interest in Mark Paul Kaplan from Alaska to Florida.
